According to Matthew Winick of The Score on Thursday, Brooklyn Nets small forward Joe Harris of Chelan, Washington will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 National Basketball Association regular season after having season-ending ankle surgery. Harris initially was to miss one to two months from an ankle surgery in November. However there were complications from the surgery, and as a result, he has not played since November 14.

In 14 games this season, Harris averaged 11.3 points per game, four rebounds per game, and one assist per game. He also had a field goal percentage of .452, a three-point percentage of .466, and a free throw percentage of .833.

Harris’s best game of the season, was the last full game he played. He scored 24 points in a 120-112 Nets win over the New Orleans Pelicans on November 12, 2021. In the Nets’ next game, a 120-96 Brooklyn win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on November 14, Harris only played 13 minutes and 38 seconds before injuring his ankle.

It is from three-point range where Harris has done a significant amount of damage during his NBA career, which included two seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2014 to 2016), in addition to six seasons with the Nets. Harris led the NBA in three-point percentage (.474) in 2018-19, and (.475) in 2020-21. Harris’s 842 three-point shots made are a Nets franchise record, and in 2020-21, he became the fastest player to record 100 three-pointers in a season (31 games). Harris’s 211 shots made in 2020-21, were the 72nd most three-point shots made in a single season.

The Nets are currently eighth in the East with a record of 32 wins and 32 losses. For Nets fans, the debut of Ben Simmons cannot come soon enough.
