Nets become first team in NBA history to have four players with 45 points in a game in a season

The Brooklyn Nets have had some outstanding individual performances this season. That trend continued on Wednesday night. In a 116-105 Brooklyn win over the Miami Heat, the Nets became the first team in NBA history to have four different players score 45 points or more in a game. Small forward Mikal Bridges of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania became the fourth Nets player to achieve the feat when he scored 45 points. He followed Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and Cam Thomas according to ESPN.

Irving and Durant are no longer with the Nets. Irving was traded to the Dallas Mavericks and Durant was traded to the Phoenix, which ironically involved a deal that saw Bridges go to Brooklyn.

On Wednesday, Bridges also had eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks. He made 17 of 24 field goals, all seven free throws, and four of six shots from long range.

Durant of Washington, District of Columbia, had 45 points in a 109-102 Nets win over the Orlando Magic on November 28. Irving of Melbourne, Australia, had 48 points in a 117-106 Nets win over the Utah Jazz on January 20. Thomas of Yokosuka, Japan, had 47 points in a 124-116 Nets loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on February 6.

In 2022-23, Bridges is averaging 17.6 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, 3.6 assists per game, and 1.2 steals per game. He also had a field goal percentage of .468, a three point percentage of .396, an a free throw percentage of .894.

With the win, Brooklyn improves to a record of 34 wins and 24 losses. That is good enough for fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
