The NBA is known for having some of the highest paid athletes in the world and with the skill sets these players show week in and week out it’s hard to say they don’t deserve it. Here’s a look at the top 10 for the 19/20 season.


The 19/20 salary cap for each team is set at $99,093,000 but when you add in what players make including endorsements then you come up with a top 10 that looks like this.

10. Damian Lillard – $43.8M

Damian Lillard

  • Team: Portrtland Trailblazers
  • Position: Point Guard
  • Games Played: 549
  • Ave Points: 23.5

In the offseason, Kyrie Irving inked a four-year, $136.5 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets. The six-time All-Star’s contract includes a 15 percent trade kicker and a 2022 player option.


9. Giannis Antetokounmpo – $45.8M

  • Position: Guard / Forward

  • Ave Points: 18.8

One of the biggest bargains in the league, the MVP is in the third season of a four-year, $100 million deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

8. Chris Paul – $46.5M

  • Team: Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Position: Point Guard
  • Games Played: 950
  • Ave Points: 18.5

Chris Paul finds himself tied with Westbrook for second on the ranking of the NBA’s highest-paid players for the second year in a row. In fact, Paul and Westbrook will switch teams for the new NBA season, as the two players were traded for each other in the mega-deal between Houston and Oklahoma City over the summer. Paul’s four-year, $159.7 million contract expires in 2022.


7. Klay Thompson – $47.7M

  • Team: Golden State Warriors
  • Position: Shooting Guard
  • Games Played: 615
  • Ave Points: 19.5

The Warriors sharpshooter recently inked a five-year, $189.9 million extension with Golden State.


6. Kyrie Irving – $51.7M

  • Team: Brooklyn Nets
  • Position: Point Guard
  • Games Played: 508
  • Ave Points: 22.2

In the offseason, Kyrie Irving inked a four-year, $136.5 million deal with the Brooklyn Nets. The six-time All-Star’s contract includes a 15 percent trade kicker and a 2022 player option.

5. James Harden – $55.2M

James Harden

  • Team: Houston Rockets
  • Position: Guard
  • Games Played: 765
  • Ave Points: 24.3

Another former league MVP, Harden is entering his 11th season in the NBA and the first year of a four-year, $171.1 million contract extension he signed with the Rockets in 2017 (the new deal extends a previous contract he signed in 2016 that paid him an average annual salary of $29.5 million).


4. Russell Westbrook – $56.5M

  • Ave Points: 23.0

Houston acquired Westbrook in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder in July. The All-Star guard had previously signed a five-year, $206.8 million contract extension with his previous team in 2017 that leaves him tied for the second-best annual salary in 2019 behind Curry, according to Spotrac.


3. Kevin Durant – $73.2M

  • Ave Points: 27.0

Durant left Golden State to sign a four-year contract worth $164.3 million with the Nets in the 2019 offseason despite the fact that he’ll miss the entire upcoming season due to a torn Achilles tendon suffered during the 2019 playoffs. He’s set to make over $42 million in the final year of the contract, which expires in 2023.

2. Stephen Curry – $85.2M

  • Team: Golden State Warriors
  • Position: Point Guard
  • Games Played: 694
  • Ave Points: 23.5

The former MVP, who has won three championships with the Warriors since 2015, signed a five-year contract worth $201.2 million with the team in 2017. The deal pays Curry an average annual salary of more than $40 million, with the annual value eventually increasing to more than $45 million by 2021.

  • Position: Forward
  • Games Played: 1,200
  • Ave Points: 27.2

The four-time MVP took his talents to the Lakers in 2018, signing a four-year deal worth $153.3 million overall.  James will have earned more than $387 million in total salary over his career by the time his current contract expires in 2022, which will give him the highest all-time contract earnings in NBA history.
