NBA swingman Danny Green retires at age 37

According to Noah Levick of NBC Sports on Thursday, National Basketball Association swingman Danny Green of North Babylon, New York has decided to announce his retirement at the age of 37. Green played 15 seasons in the NBA as a swingman (could play small forward or shooting guard). He was with the Cleveland Cavaliers for two seasons in 2009 to 2010 and 2022 to 2023, the San Antonio Spurs for eight seasons from 2010 to 2018, the Toronto Raptors for one season in 2018 to 2019, the Los Angeles Lakers for one season from 2019 to 2020, the Philadelphia 76ers for three seasons from 2020 to 2022, and again in 2023 to 2024, and the Memphis Grizzlies for one season from 2023 to 2024.
In 832 NBA regular season games, Green averaged 8.7 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, and one steal per game. He had a field goal percentage of .421, free throw percentage of .805 and three point percentage of .400.
Green was on the NBA’s second All-Defensive Team in 2016 to 2017. He was selected alongside Milwaukee Bucks power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo of Athens, Greece, Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Tony Allen of Chicago, Illinois, New Orleans Pelicans center Anthony Davis of Chicago, and Oklahoma City Thunder small forward Andre Roberson of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
From an offensive perspective, Green averaged in the double digits in scoring three times in his career. He had 10.5 points per game with the Spurs in 2012 to 2013, 11.7 points per game with the Spurs in 2014 to 2015, and 10.3 points per game with the Raptors in 2018 to 2019.
However, the one thing Green will be best remembered by is winning three NBA Finals with three different teams. He was with the Spurs in 2014, the Raptors in 2019, and the Lakers in 2020.
