NBA Preview: May 8

Monday night will see two intriguing game fours as the New York Knicks face the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers host the Golden State Warriors. The Knicks and Warriors were both given a big time beat down on Saturday. So why in the world would I be picking the Knicks and Warriors to cover the spread after they lost by 19 and 30 points respectively in their last contests? Well, I guess you have to find out by reading below.

New York Knicks @ Miami Heat–7:30 PM ET

I am aware that the Heat are up two games to one after their 105-86 win on Saturday. However, the Knicks were much better in the second half of game three than the first half. Miami only outscored New York 47-42 in the last 24 minutes, and New York only limited Miami to 18 fourth quarter points. There is no doubt the Knicks need more from Julius Randle offensively. Even though he had an impressive 14 rebounds, he only made four of 15 field goal attempts and missed three free throws. I like the Knicks at +4.5 and the over at 207. I expect both teams to improve offensively from game three.

Golden State Warriors @ Los Angeles Lakers–10 PM ET

The Warriors lost game three in convincing fashion by a score of 127-97, only two days after Golden State was victorious 127-100 in game two. There is no doubt the Lakers are better since the Russell Westbrook trade, but the Warriors are formidable too when Stephen Curry heats up from downtown. Golden State has the leadership to regroup and even the series tonight. I like Golden State at +3.5 and the over at 227.5.
