AN under-pressure Jose Mourinho side fought back from two goals down to earn a dramatic 3-2 win against Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The pre-match talk was dominated by Mourinho’s future, with Man Utd insisting they will remain patient with their manager, dismissing reports he would be sacked after the game.

The Red Devils were set for defeat, allowing Newcastle to race into a two-goal lead through Kenedy (8) and Yoshinori Muto (10), the first time they have conceded two goals inside 10 minutes at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Mourinho raged on the touchline, yelling at his players as the prospect of being sacked loomed with United having failed to win their last four games. The Red Devils’ chief looked like a man whose career depended on this game as he made early changes that paid dividends. Juan Mata replaced Eric Bailly in the first-half and improved United before scoring the goal that halved the deficit.

Paul Pogba was fortunate to escape with a yellow card after a nasty tackle on DeAndre Yedlin. The French midfielder was booked for his challenge on the Newcastle man, but it could have been a lot worse. Pogba raked his studs down the back of Yedlin’s Achilles, leaving him on the floor in pain.

Referee Anthony Taylor booked the Manchester United star in the 63rd minute of the Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial came to his help as he scored the equalising goal with 15 minutes of the game remaining.

And then came the dramatic winner from Alexis Sanchez that saw Mourinho show-off his secret pinky celebration yet again.

The United boss saved his message for the walk back towards the dressing room and eagle-eyed viewers claim he shouted “fodas filhos de puta”, which translates as “f*** off sons of b*****s” in his native tongue.

The victory sees United climb up to eighth on the Premier League table.
