Moses calls Ryles to tell him ‘no truth’ to rumours he wants to leave

Mitchell Moses isn’t pushing to break from his Parramatta Eels deal early, despite claims from some parts of the rugby league media this week that the New South Wales hero has been antagonising for a release.

The Sporting Base understands Moses is happy where he is in Parramatta and expects to see out his playing deal, which runs through to 2026 (and has two options for 2027 and 2028).

This is exactly what The Daily Telegraph has been reporting today too, with Fatima Kdouh suggesting Moses isn’t unsettled and speaking to club boss Jim Saratinos on Thursday. He explained: “There are a number of people at the club that have spoken to Mitch and there is nothing to suggest he is anything but committed to the club.”

This publication understands Moses has even seen the rumours and got on the front foot by contacting incoming Eels head coach Jason Ryles to tell him there’s nothing but fluff in the reporting news.

Interim coach Trent Barrett also joined the chorus against the media reports today, shaking his head at the claims when asked about reporters and confirming Moses is “sticking around.”

“He’s had surgery, so yeah, no, he hasn’t been around too much, but, mate, I think he’s fine,” Barrett said. “I’m more than happy to talk about last week’s win and this week’s game against Penrith, and if you want to talk about that instead.”

The Eels, sans Moses for the time being, are fighting to avoid the wooden spoon. Moses is in the process of recovering from surgery on a biceps rupture that ruled him out for the rest of the year.
