Moonee Valley Preview: Price Wary On Sprinter
3 years ago - Sportingbase
MICK Price needs to see his flying sprinter Inundation deliver again on Saturday before he is convinced he’s back to his best.
The flying sprinter returns to The Valley and 1000 metres where he holds the track record of 56.84 seconds which he set in December last year when he was also first-up.
Inundation though then lost his next two starts when he finished second at $1.50 at Sandown Hillside on January 5 and then last at the same track in a field of five in February.
On that last occasion, he suffered heat stroke and a heart condition.
Even though he has been trialling well in the preparation to his return, Price told Racing.Com that he needed to see him do it in a race to regain his faith in the sprinter.
“I want to see him under pressure as he can deviate in the throat a little but and make a few flutters and noises. He’s had a few issues that horse,” Price said.
“He’s hardly the punter’s pal that horse. I want to see him under pressure. I’ll believe it when I see it.”
The Benchmark 100 sprint has attracted some interesting runners including Perth sprinter Acromantula, the in-form-Sydney sprinter from the Waterhouse/Bott stable, Omni Man and talented Tasmanian sprinter Rebel Factor.
Omni Man who is aiming for four in a row is $2.45 favourite with PlayUp.
Inundation who will be ridden by top apprentice Wiremu Pinn is $2.90 with PlayUp.
