Minnesota Timberwolves heating up offensively

The Minnesota Timberwolves currently find themselves in a rare position in the Western Conference Standings. After a three game winning streak and seven wins in their last 10 games, they are actually two games above .500 at 27 wins and 25 losses, and in seventh place in the Western Conference.

A major reason why the Timberwolves are playing good basketball as of late has been because of their offensive surge. In their last four games, Minnesota has done something they have never done before, and that is score 120 points or more in four consecutive games.

Minnesota’s streak began on January 28 in a 134-124 loss to the Phoenix Suns. That was followed by three straight wins where they beat the Utah Jazz 126-106 on January 30, the Denver Nuggets 130-115 on February 1, and the Detroit Pistons 128-117 on February 3.

In the Timberwolves win over the Jazz, Karl-Anthony Towns had a triple double as he had 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. In the Timberwolves win over the Nuggets, Towns led Minnesota in scoring again with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Then in the Minnesota win over Detroit, Anthony Edwards led the team with 25 points.

Despite the offensive prowess, the Timberwolves are still giving up a lot of points. In the four-game stretch, defense has still been a serious issue, as they have allowed 118 points per game.

The Timberwolves game against the Jazz made headlines earlier this week, as in the contest Joe Inglis of the Jazz tore his ACL. The native of Adelaide is expected to miss not just the remainder of this year, but into next year as well.
