Minjee Lee wins 2025 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship

For the third time, Minjee Lee of Perth, Australia, is a women’s golf major champion. On Sunday, Lee won the 2025 Women’s PGA Championship from Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, just outside of Dallas. Lee’s previous major titles were the 2021 Evian Championship in France and the 2022 United States Women’s Open in Southern Pines, North Carolina.

Lee posted a four round winning score of -4. The round three leader was -6 after the third round, and maintained her lead on Sunday, despite shooting a score of two-over-par. Lee had five bogeys and three bogeys in the fourth round. She bogeyed the third, fifth, sixth, 10th, and 16th holes, and birdied the ninth, 14th, and 15th holes.

There were two other golfers in contention. American Auston Kim and Thailand’s Chanette Wannasaen were both three strokes back at -1. Both Kim, and Wannasaen began the day at three 0ver par, but then shot impressive scores of four-under-par 68 to finish in a tie for second place. Lee, Kim, and Wannasaen were the only golfers in the entire tournament that finished 72 holes under par.

This was the second straight weekend in golf that the course played extremely difficult for a major tournament. Last weekend on the men’s side, J.J. Spaun of Los Angeles, California won the 2025 United States Open at the Oakmont Golf Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a score of -1. 

The reason why Fields Ranch East played so difficult was because of the high winds. Traditionally, golfers always state they would rather play in rainy conditions than windy conditions.
