Mike Trout becomes Angels all-time home run leader

Mike Trout of Vineland, New Jersey is now the Los Angeles Angels’ all-time leader in home runs. Trout set the record on Saturday with his 300th home run in a 10-9 Angels win over the Houston Astros from the Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.
Trout broke the record previously set by Tim Salmon of Long Beach, California. Salmon had 299 home runs with the Angels from 1992 to 2006. The fact that Trout passed Salmon as the Angels all-time leader in home runs can now be used by fishermen as the ultimate sports trivia question throughout the planet for centuries to come. You literally cannot make this stuff up!
Trout’s record-breaking homer was his 15th of the season and was a two-run shot with one out in the third inning. It also scored Angels leadoff hitter and shortstop Andrelton Simmons. Brandon Bielak of Edison, New Jersey was the Astros pitcher at the time.

Trout also became the fastest player in Major League Baseball history to record 300 home runs and 200 stolen bases in a career. It only took him 1235 games to accomplish the feat according to Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report. Willie Mays of Westfield, Alabama had the previous record of accomplishing 300 home runs and 200 stolen bases in 1235 games with the New York/San Francisco Giants.
Even though it has been a record-setting year for Trout, it has been a tough season for the Angels. They have a record of 17 wins and 25 losses, and are in fourth place in the American League West, 8.5 games back of the division-leading Oakland Athletics.
