Mets acquire Luis Robert Jr., Freddy Peralta and Tobias Myers in trades

The New York Mets have made two significant trades this week according to Rogers Sportsnet. The first came on Tuesday, as they acquired centerfielder Luis Robert Jr. of Guantanamo, Cuba from the Chicago White Sox for second baseman Luisangel Acuna of Caracas, Venezuela, and minor league pitcher Truman Pauley of Los Angeles, California. The second came on Wednesday, as they acquired pitchers Freddy Peralta of Moca, Dominican Republic, and Tobias Myers of Winter Haven, Florida from the Milwaukee Brewers for shortstop prospect Jett Williams of Dallas, Texas and pitcher Brandon Sproat of Pensacola, Florida.
Robert Jr. of Ciego de Avila, Cuba, is joining his second MLB franchise after six seasons with the Chicago White Sox where he was an American League All-Star in 2023. Robert batted .223 with 14 home runs and 53 runs batted in during 2025.

Luisangel Acuna is the brother of Atlanta Braves superstar Ronald Acuna Jr. He has spent the last two seasons with the New York Mets. In 2025, he batted .234 with zero home runs and eight runs batted in.

Peralta is joining his second MLB franchise after eight seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2021 and 2025, Peralta was a National League All-Star. This past season, Peralta led MLB with 17 wins. He had 204 strikeouts, an earned run average of 2.70 and a WHIP of 1.08.
Myers has spent the last two seasons with the Brewers. In 2025, he had a record of one win and two losses in 22 games with an earned run average of 3.55 and WHIP of 1.36. Sproat was a rookie with the Mets last season and had a record of 0-2 with 17 strikeouts, earned run average of 4.79 and WHIP of 1.21.
