Mavericks upset Nuggets as an 11 point underdog

There are some questions at this time if the Dallas Mavericks may be turning the corner. While the fan base is still uppity from the bizarre Luka Doncic trade from last season, the Mavericks have shown some positive signs over the last two games. On Saturday, they upset the Los Angeles Clippers 114-110 as a nine point underdog. Then on Monday, the Mavericks upset the Denver Nuggets 131-121 as an 11 point underdog.
The Mavericks improved to a record of seven wins and 15 losses. This was only their third win all season on the road.

Four Mavericks reached double digits in scoring. Power forward Anthony Davis of Chicago, Illinois, who the Mavericks received in the Doncic trade with the Lakers last season, led the way with 32 points and 13 rebounds. Canadian rookie point guard Ryan Nembhard of Aurora, Ontario had the best game of his NBA career, as he had 28 points and 10 assists (both career highs), in recording his first career double-double. Meanwhile, point guard Cooper Flagg of Newport, Maine, the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, had 24 points and small forward Klay Thompson of Los Angeles, California had 15 points while coming off the bench.

The Nuggets meanwhile, are ice cold at the moment while playing at home. They have now lost four straight games playing at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. During the streak, they also lost 130-127 to the Chicago Bulls on November 17, lost 128-123 to the Sacramento Kings on November 22, and lost 139-136 to the San Antonio Spurs on November 28. The Bulls were a 12.5 point underdog and the Kings were an 11 point underdog. Denver dropped to a record of 14 wins and six losses in the loss to Dallas, and lost star guard Jamal Murray with an ankle injury.
