Dallas Mavericks power forward Anthony Davis of Chicago, Illinois is out six weeks with a hand injury according to the Associated Press. Davis has ligament damage in his left hand but surgery will not be required. There was an initial belief that Davis could be out for the rest of the season with the injury.
Davis tore his ligament in a 116-114 Mavericks loss to the Utah Jazz last Thursday. Davis was in the process of defending Jazz center Lauri Markkanen when he suffered the ailment.

The news got worse for the Mavericks on Wednesday as Cooper Flagg, the first overall pick. injured his ankle in a 118-109 Mavericks loss to the Denver Nuggets. It should also be noted that Kyrie Irving has not played at all this season because of a torn ACL he suffered last season.
