Maria Sharapova and Bryan brothers inducted into International Tennis Hall of Fame

According to the Canadian Press on Thursday, the inductees were announced for the the International Tennis Hall of Fame class of 2025. Those being honoured next year in Newport, Rhode Island are Russian singles tennis star Maria Sharapova, and the American doubles duo of Mike and Bob Bryan.
Sharapova was a five-time grand slam singles champion. She won Wimbledon in 2004, the United States Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, and the French Open in 2012 and 2014. Sharapova is one of 10 women’s tennis players ever to win the career grand slam. When she retired, we listed her Top Five grand slam singles moments.
When Sharapova beat Serena Williams to win the 2004 Wimbledon title, she was the third youngest woman to accomplish the feat at age 17. The only players who were younger were Lottie Dod of Great Britain (age 15 in 1887), and Martina Hingis of Switzerland (age 16 in 1997). In all, Sharapova won 548 singles matches, was first place in the WTA Rankings for 21 weeks, and won 36 tennis tournaments.
The Bryan twins were two of the greatest men’s doubles players ever. Mike Bryan of Camarillo, California won 18 grand slam men’s doubles titles and Bob Bryan of Camarillo won 16 grand slam men’s doubles titles. When it came to mixed doubles, Bob Bryan won seven grand slam titles, and Mike Bryan won four grand slam titles. Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan also won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Bob Bryan also won two grand slam singles matches. He beat Marcos Ondruska of South Africa 3-6, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the 1998 United States Open, and Bohdan Ulihrach of the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of 2001 Wimbledon.
