4 years ago - Sportingbase
According to sportbusiness.com on Tuesday, Malaga, Spain will host the 2022 and 2023 Davis Cup Finals. This will be the fourth straight time that Spain will have hosted the Davis Cup Finals. Since the reformation of the team tennis tournament in 2019, Spain has hosted every Davis Cup Final. Madrid was the host when Spain won in 2019, and was the host again when Russia won in 2021. There was no Davis Cup Final in 2020 because of coronavirus.
The Davis Cup Final will take place on November 27. Leading up to the final, Malaga will host eight countries in a knockout format starting with quarterfinals and then semifinals.
In addition to hosting the Davis Cup Final over the next two years, Malaga will be one of four cities that will host a group stage from September 14-18. In this time, four European cities are hosting a group of four nations, with the top two countries from each group advancing to the next round in November. The other three cities hosting a group stage are Bologna, Italy, Glasgow, Scotland, and Hamburg, Germany.
