Then in the second round on Friday, Stark had a score of three-under-par 69, She had six birdies and three bogeys. Stark birdied the second, fifth, eighth, 11th, 14th, and 15th holes, and bogeyed the first, sixth, and 17th holes.

There are currently five other players in contention. Julia Lopez Ramirez of Benahavis, Spain is all alone in second place at -6. Then there is a three-way tie for third place at -5. What is fascinating about this group is the fact that all three players are Japanese. Those three strokes back are Mao Saigo of Funabashi, Rio Takeda of Koshi and Hinako Shibuno of Okayama. Saigo and Shibuno are both major champions. Shibuno won the 2019 Women’s British Open, and Saigo won the 2025 Chevron Championship. Meanwhile, two-time major champion Nelly Korda of Bradenton, Florida is alone in sixth place at -4. Korda won the Women’s PGA Championship in 2021 and the Chevron Championship in 2024.

There have been five Swedish women who have won a major in the past. The greatest Swedish golfer is also one of the best female golfers ever as Annika Sorenstam was a 10-time champion. Other winners were Liseotte Neumann, Helen Alfredsson, Anna Nordqvist and Pernilla Lindberg.
