Luguentz Dort ties Thunder record for most points in a single overtime period

According to Paris Lawson of nba.com on Wednesday, Luguentz Dort of Montreal, Quebec tied Oklahoma City Thunder franchise history on Wednesday for the most points in a single overtime period.  He scored 14 points in a single overtime period in a 120-114 Oklahoma City win over the Dallas Mavericks. Dort is tied with Russell Westbrook of Long Beach, California, who had 14 overtime points in a 126-115 Thunder win over the Washington Wizards on November 30, 2016.

In the Thunder win over the Magic on Wednesday, Dallas was actually down by seven points with two minutes to play before they forced the extra five minutes. Dort ended the game with 30 points to lead all Oklahoma City players. Luka Doncic had 40 points for Dallas in a losing cause. The Thunder meanwhile got solid production from Darius Bazley off the bench, who collected a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Stephen Curry has the NBA record for most points scored in a single overtime period according to nba.com. Curry had 17 points in a 132-125 Golden State Warriors win over the Portland Trail Blazers in game four of the 2016 Western Conference semifinals on May 9, 2016. The series was won by the Warriors, who went on to beat the Trail Blazers in five games.

Oklahoma City is in a period of transition, as they have a record of 16 wins and 34 losses. However, they have gone on a mini two-game winning streak as of late. Their other win came on Monday in a 98-91 victory over the Trail Blazers. The Mavericks meanwhile are in fifth in the West with a record of 29 wins and 23 losses.
