As the PGA Tour regular season has come to a close for the 2022-23 year, Lucas Glover of Greenville, South Carolina was victorious at the 2023 Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. The 43-year-old posted a score of -20 and beat American Russell Henley of Macon, Georgia and Byeong-hun An of South Korea by two strokes each.
Glover opened the tournament on Thursday with a score of four-under-par 66. That was followed by a score of six-under-par 64 on Friday, eight-under-par 62 on Saturday, and two-under-par 68 on Sunday. During Glover’s impressive third round, he had nine birdies and one bogey. He birdied the second, fourth, fifth, sixth, ninth, 10th, 15th, 17th, and 18th holes.
This was Glover’s fifth PGA title. His most notable title was winning the 2009 United States Open at Bethpage Black in New York state. Glover also won the 2005 Funai Classic at Walt Disney World, the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship, and the 2021 John Deere Classic.
Next up on the PGA Tour is the FedEx Cup Playoffs. There is still getting used to that the playoffs are in August rather than the traditional month of September. But the change in dates makes complete sense, so the average sports fan can focus on the National Football League.
The FedEx Cup Playoffs will go on for the next three weeks. Seventy golfers will be competing this weekend in Memphis, Tennessee at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Fifty golfers will be competing next weekend at the BMW Championship in Illinois. Then at the end of the month, 30 golfers will be in action at the Tour Championship in Atlanta.
