LPGA star Jessica Korda announces birth of son Greyson

According to Sarah Kellam of lpga.com on Monday, American golf star Jessica Korda has announced the birth of her son Greyson. The birth of Greyson John DelPrete occurred on Saturday.

Jessica Korda is 30 years of age, and from Bradenton, Florida. She is part of a very prestigious sports family. Jessica’s younger sister Nelly is the second ranked women’s golfer in the world (only behind fellow American Lilia Vu), 2021 Women’s PGA Championship winner and reigning Olympic gold medalist, her younger brother Sebastian Korda is the 34th ranked male tennis player in the world, and her father Petr was a tennis star who won the men’s singles title at the 1998 Australian Open for his home country of the Czech Republic.

Interestingly, while Nelly is in a relationship with Chicago Blackhawks centre Andreas Athanasiou of Woodbridge, Ontario, Jessica’s husband is not in the sports world at all. Johnny DelPrete is an international real estate specialist. Korda and DelPrete married on December 11, 2021.

Jessica Korda has not played on the LPGA Tour since withdrawing from the Cognizant Founders Cup in Clifton, New Jersey in May. At the time, she withdrew because of a back injury, and then announced her pregnancy three months later in August. Due to the injury and pregnancy, Jessica Korda’s world ranking has dropped from 31st to 165th.

In all, Jessica Korda has won six LPGA events. She was victorious at the 2012 Women’s Australian Open, the 2014 Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, the 2014 AirBus LPGA Classic, the 2015 Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, the 2018 Honda LPGA Championship, and the 2021 Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions.
