Look back at the two March buzzer beaters in the NBA

The buzzer beater is arguably the most exciting part of the National Basketball Association. In March, there have been two game-winning buzzer beaters. Let’s take a look back at the two most riveting shots from the month so far.

Caris Levert

On March 3, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 132-130. The game winning shot was made by shooting guard Caris Levert. The native of Columbus, Ohio made a two-point layup from two feet with Australian guard Dyson Daniels of Bendigo picking up the assist.

For Levert it was the first buzzer beater of his NBA career. Levert started the game against the Grizzlies on the bench, but scored 25 points, and was an impressive +13 in 31 minutes and 50 seconds. This was the second time this season a Hawks player had a game-winning buzzer beater. Point guard Trae Young of Lubbock, Texas accomplished the feat in a 124-121 Hawks win over the Utah Jazz on January 7 with an unbelievable 49 foot Hail Mary shot.

Kawhi Leonard

On March 9, the Los Angeles Clippers got a masterful buzzer beater shot from Kawhi Leonard of Los Angeles, California. Leonard made an unassisted two-point field goal from one foot in a 111-110 overtime win over the Sacramento Kings.

This was Leonard’s second career buzzer beater. The first was arguably the most memorable shot in Toronto Raptors’s franchise history. That is because it came in game seven of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, a 92-90 Raptors win over the Philadelphia 76ers. What was so similar with both buzzer beaters was the fact that both basketballs did not go directly into the basket. They bounced off the rim on multiple occasions before going into the net.
