Local Bendigo Star Ready To Salute
3 years ago - Sportingbase
Although he developed a habit of finishing second last time in there’s no doubt who the locals at Bendigo will be cheering to win the Golden Mile and that’s Just Folk.
The Josh Julius trained galloper had a luckless preparation last spring when he finished second in four of his seven starts.
His seconds included the Seymour Cup which was held at Bendigo, the Group 2 Craven Plate at Randwick and the Cup Day Plate at Flemington and the McDonald Stakes at Morphettville.
Julius is hopeful luck can turn Just Folk’s way in the Golden Mile.
Just Folk resumed from a spell with a first-up fourth at Flemington behind the in-form Scallopini over 1400m on Match 11 which pleased his trainer.

“I was pretty happy with the performance,” Julius told Racing.Com.
Julius had planned to return to Sydney and reap the benefits of the traditionally wet tracks over autumn but as they haven’t eventuated he decided to stay at home and race in his own backyard.
Just Folk has had three starts at Bendigo for a win early in his career and a second in last year’s Seymour Cup which was held at the track.
Just Folk represents great each-way value at $8 with TopSport.
