Legendary wicket-keeper Rod Marsh in hospital after serious heart attack

Australian cricket legend Rod Marsh is currently in hospital after suffering a serious heart attack in Bundaberg.
The 74-year-old was in Bundaberg for a charity event organised by Bull Masters where he was rushed to hospital by organisers after suffering a heart episode.
He is currently in “critical condition”, per a Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service spokesperson.
“A 74-year-old male presented to Bundaberg Hospital with cardiac symptoms,” the spokesperson said.
“[He] is currently in a critical condition.”
Bulls Masters officials John Glanville and David Hillier are being praised for their quick thinking and decision to rush him to hospital when his heart stopped beating for several minutes.

Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley released a statement in which he sent out his thoughts to “one of the most iconic and popular figures in the game”.
“We are very concerned to hear the news about Rod and send him all our best wishes. Our thoughts are with him, his wife Ros and their family and many friends at this difficult time,” Hockley said.
“Rod is one of the most iconic and popular figures in the game and we thank and acknowledge those who are looking after him.”
Marsh’s family were making the trip to Bundaberg to be by his side.
A 2009 inductee into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, Marsh enjoyed a wildly successful international career spanning from 1970 to 1984. He played 96 test matches, scoring 3,633 runs and taking 343 catches as a wicket-keeper. In 2014, he was appointed chairman of selectors for Cricket Australia and held that role for two-and-a-half years.
