The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling mightily at the moment. After starting the season with a respectable record of 12 wins and eight losses for a winning percentage of .600, the Lakers have simply been clobbered in their last two games. In the last 96 minutes of action, the Lakers have been outscored by 70 points. On Monday, the Lakers were beaten 109-80 to the Dallas Mavericks, and on Wednesday, the Lakers were beaten 134-93 by the Miami Heat. The 41 point loss to Miami was the third biggest defeat in LeBron James’s career.

The worst loss came on November 28, 2023 as James’s Lakers were beaten by 44 points. The Lakers were beaten 138-94 by the Philadelphia 76ers. The second worst loss came on February 5, 2019 as the Lakers were beaten by 42 points. The Lakers were beaten 136-94 to the Indiana Pacers.

This past week it has been a defensive struggle for James. He was a -28 with six turnovers against the Timberwolves and -21 with five turnovers and two personal fouls against the Heat.

Wednesday’s loss was by 41 points. James was respectable offensively with 29 points, but the entire Lakers starting five did not play adequate basketball in their own end. All five starters were by -20 or worse. Anthony Davis was a -29, Rui Hachimura was a -27, D’Angelo Russell was a -25, and rookie Dalton Knecht was a -20.

The Heat were led by Tyler Herro of Milwaukee, Wiconsin, who had 31 points. Meanwhile, Bam Adebayo of Newark, New Jersey had a double double, as he had 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Heat have improved to the .500 mark at 10 wins and 10 losses.
