LeBron James moves into third all-time in NBA field goals list

According to Sam Quinn of CBS Sports on Thursday, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James of Akron, Ohio is now third all-time in the NBA all-time field goals list. James moved into the top three in the Lakers’ 114-93 win over the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center.
James passed Wilt Chamberlain with a first quarter layup. At the time, the Lakers pulled within a single point, as it was 12-11 for the Nuggets. This was the second significant achievement James reached this season. On December 30, James reached a minimum of 10 points for 1000 straight games in a 121-107 Lakers win over the San Antonio Spurs.
James entered the game with 12 679 field goals made, two back of Chamberlain, who had 12 681 field goals with the Philadelphia Warriors, San Francisco Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Los Angeles Lakers from 1959 to 1973. James passed Chamberlain with his third field goal, and ended with 12691 field goals, as he had 12 in the game.
In an amazing feat, James also had a triple-double (27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists). It was James’s second triple-double of the season, as he also had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in a 109-103 Lakers win in San Antonio on New Year’s Day.

In the Lakers’ win over the Nuggets on Thursday, James led both teams in points and assists. He was also the co-leader in rebounds as Nikola Jokic and Paul Millsap of the Nuggets also had 10 rebounds.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the all-time leader in field goals made with 15837. Karl Malone is second with 13528. The other player in the top five is Michael Jordan, who had 12192 field goals. Three of the top five players on the NBA all-time field goal list played for the Lakers, as Abdul-Jabbar was in southern California from 1975 to 1989.
With the win, the Lakers are tied for second with the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference at 17 wins and six losses. The Utah Jazz still lead at 17 wins and five losses.
