Laurie Canter joins LIV Tour for 2026

Laurie Canter of Bath, England announced on Monday that he will not participate on the PGA Tour in 2026, and will participate on the LIV Tour again according to the Associated Press. He previously played on the LIV Tour for three years from 2022 to 2024.

Canter will join the Majesticks team on the LIV Tour in 2026. The Majesticks are currently comprised of England’s Lee Westwood, England’s Ian Poulter, Sweden’s Henrik Stenson, and England’s Sam Horsfield. Westwood is a former world number one, and Stenson won the 2016 British Open.

Canter’s best finish in a LIV Tour event came in Chicago in 2022. He finished in eighth place at -6, and seven strokes back of champion Cameron Smith of Logan City, Australia.

During Canter’s first time on the LIV Tour, he was used mostly as a replacement. He was a filler for Horsfield and then for American Anthony Kim. It is interesting that Canter’s biography is not on the Majesticks website, even though ESPN and the Associated Press have both announced he has joined the Majesticks team.

Over the last two years, Canter has won twice on the European Tour. He first won at the 2024 European Open in Winsen, Germany. Canter posted a winning score of -13 and beat Thurston Lawrence of South Africa and Bernd Wiesberger of Austria by two strokes. Canter then won the 2025 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship in a playoff by shooting a score of -14. Canter beat England’s Dan Brown and Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal.

Canter qualified for the PGA Tour this year by being among the top 10 players on the European Tour. Ironically, it is Brown who is now replacing Canter on the PGA Tour.

This is the second time in the last couple of weeks that a player has joined the LIV Tour when he had the chance to play on the PGA Tour. The other is France’s Victor Perez.
