Lakers deliver remarkable comeback against the Clippers

Whenever the two Los Angeles-based National Basketball Association teams play there is usually significant intrigue. That was the case again on Thursday at the Crypto.com Arena as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Los Angeles Clippers 116-112.

What we saw on Wednesday was a magnificent Lakers comeback. At the fifteen second mark of the fourth quarter, the Clippers had a commanding 98-77 lead. That is when the Lakers started to roll and put together a dominant fourth quarter comeback. The Lakers outscored the Clippers 39-14 over the last 11 minutes and 45 seconds of the game to deliver an impressive four-point victory.

The Lakers were led by power forward LeBron James of Akron, Ohio, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. James had a game-high 34 points, and now has 39960 points all-time. In fact, all five Lakers starters reached double figures in points. Center Anthony Davis of Chicago, Illinois had 20 points, point guard D’Angelo Russell of Louisville, Kentucky had 18 points, power forward Rui Hachimura of Toyama, Japan had 17 points, and shooting guard Austin Reaves of Newark, Arkansas had 13 points. Davis meanwhile had a double-double as he added 12 rebounds.

The Clippers have now lost five of their last eight games. Two of those losses during that stretch were blowouts as they were clobbered 121-100 by the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 12, and then beaten handily 129-107 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 22.

With the win, the Lakers move into ninth place in the Western Conference with a record of 32 wins and 28 losses. The Clippers are in fourth place with a record of 37 wins and 20 losses.
