Kyle Lowry’s time in Toronto likely coming to an end

Kyle Lowry’s time with the Toronto Raptors is likely coming to an end. It is just a matter of when. That is because on Thursday it was reported by Rogers Sportsnet and the Toronto Star, that Lowry had sold his home in Toronto for $5.12 million.
Now, one could say one reason Lowry sold his home is because he is currently living in central Florida right now as that is where the Raptors are having their home games in 2020-21. Due partially to coronavirus, the real estate market in Canada is booming at the moment.
However, if you look at Lowry’s financial situation at the moment, it is very likely that Lowry’s days with the Raptors will either end before the trade deadline or the offseason. Lowry is an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season. He is currently making $30 million in 2020-21. So if the Raptors want to move Lowry and get something in return, they will have to do so by March 25.
Lowry still has definite value even at the age of 34. He is averaging 18 points per game, 7.0 assists per game, and 5.5 rebounds per game this season. Lowry, who has been a six-time all-star and won the NBA Finals with the Raptors in 2019, could give a team contending for a championship title this season a boost at the point guard position. The teams most interested in Lowry at this time are the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers seem to be the most likely suitor. That is because Lowry was born in Philadelphia. However, Lowry has history with 76ers General Manager Daryl Morey. While Morey was with the Houston Rockets, he traded Lowry to the Raptors when he did not connect with Rockets head coach Kevin McHale at the time.
But from a Raptors perspective, he is one of the greatest players in franchise history. He is the franchise leader in all-time assists (4143), and steals (862). Lowry has been a beloved favourite among the Raptors fan base. That is what happens when you win a championship.
