Karl-Anthony Towns out one month with a knee injury

According to The Canadian Press on Thursday, the Minnesota Timberwolves will be without power forward and center Karl-Anthony Towns of Edison, New Jersey. The four-time National Basketball Association All-Star injured his knee on Monday, in the Timberwolves’s 119-114 win over the Portland Trail Blazers at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota according to Jeremy Brener of BVM Sports. 

At this time we do not know exactly when the injury happened during the Timberwolves/Trail Blazers contest according to Joseph Salvador of Sports Illustrated. In the game against the Trail Blazers, Towns tore his meniscus and only played 21 minutes. He had 14 points, four rebounds, two blocked shots and one assist. Towns made five of 12 field goals and four of six free throws.

In 2023-24, Towns is averaging 22.1 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and three assists per game. He has a field goal percentage of .506, free throw percentage of .874 and a three-point percentage of .423.

Even though Towns is out of the lineup, this is still a very talented Timberwolves squad. Anthony Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia, the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, leads the team with 26.4 points per game. Meanwhile, center Rudy Gobert of Saint-Quentin, France, is averaging a double-double for the season as he has 13.9 points per game, and 12.8 rebounds per game.

The Timberwolves are currently the best team in the Western Conference at 44 wins and 19 losses. They have a half game lead over the second place Oklahoma City Thunder. The only team better than Minnesota in the entire NBA is the Boston Celtics at 48 wins and 14 losses.
