Memphis Grizzlies forward Justise Winslow and Sacramento Kings power forward Marvin Bagley III will miss the remainder of the 2019-20 National Basketball Association season with various injuries according to Shawn Krest of Sports Illustrated on Wednesday. Winslow reportedly has an injured hip, and Bagley III injured his right ankle.
Bagley III was only in his second season for the Kings, but the native of Tempe, Arizona was having a huge impact offensively. He was averaging 14.2 points per game, and 7.5 rebounds per game. He had a shooting percentage of .467, three-point percentage of .182, and free throw percentage of .806. In all 13 games this season for Sacramento, Bagley III reached double digits in points. In addition to injuring his ankle, he injured his thumb earlier in the season.
Winslow, a native of Houston, Texas, was averaging 11.3 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game, and four assists per game this season with the Miami Heat. He had a field goal percentage of .388, a poor free throw percentage of .667, and a three-point percentage of .222. Then on February 6, Winslow was involved in a blockbuster trade, which saw him move from the Heat to the Grizzlies.
Winslow suffered the major hip injury from a fall in practice on Monday. He had already missed the majority of the regular season with a back injury. Winslow’s best game this season came on opening night as he scored 27 points in a 120-101 Heat win over the Grizzlies.
Bagley III and Winslow also have something in common. They both played at Duke University. Bagley III was with the Blue Devils in 2017-18, and Winslow was at Duke from 2014 to 2015.
The Grizzlies are currently in eighth place in the Western Conference (final playoff spot) with a record of 32 wins and 33 losses. The Kings are in 11th place with a record of 28 wins and 36 losses.
