According to Jason Owens of Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday, Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler of Houston, Texas is out for the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Butler suffered the injury in a 135-112 Warriors win over the Miami Heat on Monday. Ironically, it was the Heat that Butler played for before being traded to Golden State on February 6, 2025.
Butler’s knee reportedly buckled inward according to Joe Viray of SB Nation. Butler collided with Davion Mitchell of the Heat with Golden State leading Miami 77-75 with four minutes and 19 seconds into the second half. It is interesting that the Warriors were able to outscore the Heat 58-37 the rest of the way without Butler en route to a 23 point victory.

In 38 games with the Warriors this season, Butler averaged exactly 20 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, 4.9 assists per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He had a field goal percentage of .519, three point percentage of .376, and free throw percentage of .864.

Butler’s 20 points per game was second on the Warriors. The only player with more points per game was point guard Stephen Curry of Akron., Ohio. Curry was averaging 27.1 points per game.
With the Butler injury, don’t be surprised if Curry tries to take even more shot attempts from downtown. Curry already leads the NBA with three point shots made per game (4.5), three point shot attempts made per game (11.5), and most three point shots made in a career (4214).
The Warriors improved to a record of 25 wins and 20 losses. That is eighth place in the Western Conference.
