Jason Kokrak wins second PGA Tour event at the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge

Canadian-born American golfer Jason Kokrak won his second PGA Tour event of his career on Sunday. The 36-year-old won the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge from Fort Worth, Texas.
Kokrak shot a four round score of -14. He defeated three-time major champion Jordan Spieth of Dallas, Texas by two strokes. Spieth, who has won the 2015 Masters, the 2015 United States Open, and 2017 British Open, was seeking his 13th PGA title and second title in Texas this year. Last month Spieth won the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.
Once again, Spieth had some trouble in his final round. On Sunday, he shot a score of +3, while Kokrak was even par.
This is the second straight year that Kokrak won on the PGA Tour. Last fall, he won the 2020 CJ Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event normally takes place in South Korea, but was moved to the United States because of coronavirus.
The Charles Schwab Challenge generated some fame in 2020 as it was the first event on the PGA’s return-to-play schedule after the tour took a three-month hiatus due to coronavirus. The event was won by American Daniel Berger. The Charles Schwab Challenge is one of two PGA events this year taking place in Fort Worth. The other was the AT&T Byron Nelson, which was won by Kyoung-Hoon Lee of South Korea, the week before the PGA Championship.

There were two other significant events in the world of golf this week. Ally Ewing of Tupelo, Mississippi beat reigning British Women’s Open champion Sophia Popov of Germany in the final of the LPGA Matchplay Championship in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the Champions Tour had its second major of the year, and just like The Tradition earlier this month, Alex Cejka of Germany was victorious. On Sunday he won at the Senior Men’s PGA Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
