Jannik Sinner wins 2025 Beijing Open

For the second time this week, there was an ATP 500 final event. After Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz won the Japan Open on Tuesday, Italy’s Jannik Sinner won the 2025 China Open on Wednesday.

In the final, Sinner defeated American Learner Tien 6-2, 6-2. The serve was a major difference in the match. Sinner had 10 aces and one double fault. Tien had zero aces and six double faults. Sinner also won 77% of the points on his first serve. Tien only won 55% of the points on his first serve. The 22% difference was significant.

Sinner was also very opportunistic. Sinner broke Tien four times in six opportunities. Tien had two break point opportunities in the match but could not break Sinner.

During the 2025 China Open, Sinner had two notable victories. He defeated the 2014 United States Open champion Marin Cilic of Croatia, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round, and the third seed, Alex de Minaur of Australia, 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 in the semifinals.

This was Sinner’s second career China Open title. In 2023, he defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the final, 7-6, 7-6. In both tiebreaks, Sinner won 7-2.

Sinner has now won three tournaments on three different continents in 2025. He previously won the Australian Open in January by beating Alexander Zverev of Germany in the final, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. Sinner then won Wimbledon in July by beating Alcaraz in the final, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. This was Tien’s first ATP Final.

Next up for the world’s best ATP tennis players is the Shanghai Masters. Sinner is the defending champion as he beat Novak Djokovic of Serbia in last year’s final, 7-6, 6-3. The 2025 Shanghai Masters has already started. In the first round, Australia’s Jordan Thompson beat Denmark’s August Holmgren 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
