Italy’s Jannik Sinner continued his dominance over Alex de Minaur of Australia on Wednesday. In the quarterfinals of the 2025 Australian Open in Melbourne on Wednesday, Sinner steamrolled past de Minaur in putting down a beatdown. In a rather straightforward match from Sinner’s standpoint, the 23 year old from Innichen was victorious rather easily 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.

Sinner won 85% of the points on the first serve, 80% of the points on the second serve, and broke de Minaur six times. de Minaur only had one break point chance, and was outscored 86-51.

All-time, Sinner has now won all 10 meetings against de Minaur. Now de Minaur did get by Sinner once but that was not considered an official victory because Sinner withdrew from the ATP Masters 1000 Series in Paris in 2023 because due to a virus. Sinner’s Wednesday quarterfinal win was as dominant as they ever come. The only other time Sinner beat de Minaur with absolute ease came at the 2023 Davis Cup Finals where Sinner won 6-3, 6-0 in Malaga, Spain.

Next up for Sinner, the number one seed, is American Ben Shelton, the 21st seed, in Friday’s semifinals. Shelton is in his second grand siam semifinal as he made the final four of the 2023 United States Open. Shelton has actually beaten Sinner once before in five opportunities. That came in the fourth round of Shanghai in 2023, which Shelton won 2-6, 6-3, 7-6.

We also found who will be in one of the two semifinals on the women’s side. World number two Iga Swiatek of Poland will face Madison Keys of the United States.
