James Harden becomes second player ever with 3000 three-points made

Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden of Los Angeles, California made NBA history on Sunday by becoming only the second player ever to make 3000 three-point shot attempts. He accomplished the feat in a 126-122 Clippers win over the Denver Nuggets at the newly built Intuit Dome in southern California.
Harden joins Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio, as the only two players ever to make 3000 three-point shots. Curry has the record with 3810.
On Sunday, Harden made six of 15 three-point attempts. He now has 3004 in his career. Harden’s 3000th three-point shot from 25 feet was his second of the game, and at the time gave the Clippers a 54-53 lead with two minutes and 29 seconds left in the first half.
Harden has now made 64 three-point shots this season. That is the 12th most among all players. Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards of Atlanta, Georgia has made the most three-pointers this season as he has 89.
Of Harden’s 3004 three-pointers, 2029 have been with the Houston Rockets, 320 have been with the Oklahoma City Thunder, 250 with the Clippers, 207 with the Philadelphia 76ers, and 198 with the Brooklyn Nets. For three consecutive seasons, Harden led the NBA in three points made while with the Rockets. He had 265 in 2017-18, 378 in 2018-19, and 299 in 2019-20.
With the win, the Clippers improved to a record of 13 wins and nine losses. That is the seventh best record in the Western Conference. The Nuggets drop to 10 wins and eight losses. One major concern in Denver at the moment is their depth. According to Fan Duel, the Nuggets have the worst +/- among players who come off the bench in the entire NBA. It has been a significant struggle for shooting guard Julian Strawther, who is a -106.
