Jaguars sign Mike Glennon from the Raiders

According to Adam Wells of Bleacher Report on Friday, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed quarterback Mike Glennon of Centreville, Virginia to a contract. The length of the contract and the financial details have not yet been disclosed.
The Jaguars become Glennon’s fifth National Football League team. He previously played three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2013, 2014, 2016), and one season each with the Chicago Bears, Arizona Cardinals and Oakland Raiders. In 2015, Glennon did not see any action on the football field as he backed up Jameis Winston for the full year.
Last season in Oakland, Glennon backed up starting quarterback Derek Carr of Fresno, California. Glennon only completed six of 10 passes for 56 yards and one touchdown. By the beginning of December, DeShone Kizer of Toledo, Ohio had passed Glennon on the Raiders depth chart as the primary backup quarterback.
Glennon was originally the third round draft pick, 73rd overall in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers. In a stunning move, the Bears signed Glennon to a three-year contract worth $45 million on March 9, 2017. Glennon became a multi-millionaire even though he only played two games in a span of two seasons.
There was no doubt you could consider Glennon was a bust with the Bears. He only won one game as Chicago’s starter. That came on September 24, 2017, as Chicago beat Pittsburgh 23-17 at Soldier Field in Chicago. By the beginning of October of 2017, Glennon lost his starting job to Bears’ first round draft pick Mitchell Trubisky.
In Jacksonville, Glennon is projected to backup Gardner Minshew. There had been some rumours that the Jaguars were interested in quarterback Cam Newton, who is still unsigned. Even though Jacksonville is still possibly looking for one more quarterback on its roster for the 2020 NFL season, they appear comfortable with Minshew and Glennon in their rebuilding process.
