Jaguars sign defensive end Aaron Lynch from the Bears

According to Tim Daniels of Bleacher Report on Tuesday, the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed defensive end Aaron Lynch of Cleveland, Ohio to a one year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Lynch will be joining his third National Football League franchise. In addition to four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers from 2014 to 2017, Lynch played the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears where he wore number 99.
In 2019 with the Bears, Lynch played in 16 games and had two pass deflections. He also had two sacks, six combined tackles (four solo tackles and two assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss and nine quarterback hits.
In Lynch’s career, he has played in 73 games and started 22 of them. He has one career interception for 20 yards, 10 pass deflections, one forced fumble, 20 sacks, 105 combined tackles (81 solo tackles and 24 assisted tackles), 36 tackles for a loss, and 63 quarterback hits.
Lynch’s lone fumble recovery came from a DeAndre Hopkins fumble on December 10, 2017, in a 26-16 San Francisco win over the Houston Texans. Then, a year later, Lynch had his lone career interception in a 48-10 Bears romp over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 30, 2018.
At 6’5″, 285 pounds, Lynch was initially the 49ers’ fifth-round draft pick, 150th overall, in the 2014 NFL Draft. At the collegiate level, he played for the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the University of South Florida Bulls. While with the Bulls in 2013, Lynch was on the All-American Athletic Conference First-Team after an outstanding junior season. He had five sacks, 12.5 tackles for a loss, 29 tackles, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown.
In Jacksonville, Lynch will be expected to backup Josh Allen on the left side of defensive end. At 27 years of age, it appears that he has plenty of football left.
