There is no doubt that Great Britain’s Jack Draper has had an outstanding 2025 season. However, it is going to end earlier for the world number seven than he anticipated. On Monday of this week, it was reported by Russell Fuller of the British Broadcasting Corporation that Draper would miss the rest of the 2025 tennis season because of an arm injury.

The news should not be that big of a surprise. That is because Draper has only played three matches since the start of Wimbledon. At the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Draper beat Argentina’s Sebastian Baez 6-2, 6-2, 2-1 before Baez withdrew with a knee injury. Then in the second round, Draper was upset by Marin Cilic of Croatia, the 2014 United States Open champion, 6-4, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

Draper then missed the ATP Masters 1000 series hard court season (events in Canada and Cincinnati) before beating Federico Agustin Gomez of Argentina in the first round of the United States Open by a score of 6-4, 7-5, 6-7, 6-2. Draper was unable to continue at Flushing Meadows as he withdrew from his second round match against Zizou Bergs of Belgium.

In 2025, Draper’s most notable achievement was winning the final of Indian Wells in March. In the final, Draper defeated Holger Rune of Denmark by a score of 6-2, 6-2.

With the retirement last year of Andy Murray, Draper has taken over as the top British men’s tennis player. It will be interesting to see how long this arm injury persists, if it will move into the 2026 tennis season and impact his chances of competing at the Australian Open in January.
