Indianapolis Colts sign safety Tavon Wilson from the Lions

The Indianapolis Colts increased their depth at safety on Tuesday with the signing of Tavon Wilson of Washington, D.C., from the Detroit Lions. The overall terms of the contract have not yet been disclosed according to ESPN.
Wilson had a career year for the Lions in 2019. He had career highs in combined tackles (98), assisted tackles (29), and yards from fumble recoveries (14). Wilson also tied career highs with two fumble recoveries, and two quarterback hits. In 13 starts and 16 games, Wilson also had five pass deflections, one sack, 69 solo tackles, and three tackles for a loss.
Wilson was initially the second-round pick, 48th overall, by the New England Patriots in the 2012 NFL Draft. He would play the next four seasons with the Patriots from 2012 to 2015, and then four seasons with the Lions from 2016 to 2019. In 110 career NFL games, Wilson has eight interceptions for 207 yards, one touchdown, 19 pass deflections, one forced fumble, six fumble recoveries for 12 yards, five sacks, 357 combined tackles, 275 solo tackles, 82 assisted tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and eight quarterback hits.

Wilson’s lone touchdown came on a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown in a 41-7 Patriots win over the Baltimore Ravens on December 22, 2013. The Wilson pick six came in garbage time, as the Patriots already had a commanding 34-7 lead over the Ravens with 40 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
In the postseason, Wilson has played in eight playoff games, and seven for the Patriots. He has 12 combined tackles (nine solo tackles and three assisted tackles). Wilson was also on the Patriots team that won the 2015 Super Bowl as New England beat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24.
