Impressive return by the A Cummings 5yo gelding over an unsuited trip. Went to another level last prep over the 1400m when beating the talented Wolfe. Loved the way he found the line off an average tempo +0.26 nothing special but just keep finding late, fastest last 400m – 22.63 and last 200m 11.64, was all we needed to see in his first-up run.

Will look to jump to 1400m and grow a leg, will likely sit midfield and needs a fair to hot tempo to produce his excellent turn of foot. Can improve out of 78 grade.

Distance: 1200m
Grade: Class 2

Jarvis trained 4yo gelding was a horror watch for backers after missing the kick by 4L only to rattle home and miss by 1.8L, jumps with them goes very close. Was able to be one of the few horses to sustain a long run from the back and still savage the line the last 50m.

Sectionals backed this up, 5th fastest L400 – 22.41 of the entire meeting and 7th fastest L200 – 11.50. This held up with the higher grade horses on the day. I would love to see him over a touch further 1200-1400m, just needs to jump with them and settle a touch closer. solid tempo to produce that turn of foot. A Tab Highway has his name on it.

The O’Shea trained gelding produced an eye-catching run in the Group 3 Festival stakes. Rise in trip always the key for this horse and early signs are his in form for a great prep.

I love the way he looked to be shot out of a cannon at the 150m only to get tired late, fitness will be close to peak now and the next start we can cash in. Data backed up the eye with his fastest sectionals coming from his L600 – 34.36, L400 – 22.70 race fastest.

His last 200m was 3rd fastest telling me fitness is yet to peak. Key points next start will be in the parade ring, look for the judge to indicate coat has come on a stack from last start and fitness to be near peak. Will look for 1600+ now will average to solid tempo key recipe to see him finish off.
