HE’S READY TO SQUARE OFF HIS SPRING CAMPAIGN

DAN O’Sullivan is still trying to ascertain whether Berkeley Square is a stayer and will use the Group 2 Zipping Classic at Caulfield as his guide for his future.
O’Sullivan has been thrilled with Berkeley Square’s spring preparation where he has established himself as one of the most consistent middle distance performers in work.
After his first-up eighth Berkeley Square then won his next two starts before being placed at his next three in Group level with seconds in the Group 3 Coongy Stakes and Bendigo Cup before he finished third in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
O’Sullivan said to Racing.Com it had been a fantastic preparation.
He said there were a couple of races where he wasn’t suited by the tempo in those placings at his past three starts.
O’Sullivan said they needed to see Berkeley Square run out a strong 2400m as if he did they could start planning for the Adelaide Cup as his connections are from that city.
O’Sullivan said he loomed up in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2600m but he didn’t finish the race off as he had hoped for.
Berkeley Square will be ridden by Luke Nolen who replaces the injured Mick Dee.
Bjorn Baker’s stayer Arapaho is $4.60 favourite with PlayUp. Berkeley Square is $10.
