The New Orleans Pelicans will have a former NBA All-Star in their lineup for the 2024-25 season. According to Colin Lynch of The Sports Daily on Friday, the Atlanta Hawks traded guard Dejounte Murray to the Pelicans for center Larry Nance Jr. of Akron, Ohio, point guard Dyson Daniels of Bendigo, Australia and two draft picks. The Hawks will receive a first round pick in 2025 and 2027.

Murray is joining his third NBA franchise. He was previously with the San Antonio Spurs for five seasons from 2016 to 2022. Murray missed the 2018-19 season with a torn right anterior cruciate ligament. He then played the last to seasons with the Atlanta Hawks.

This past season in Atlanta, Murray averaged 22.5 points per game, 6.4 assists per game, 5.3 rebounds per game, and 1.4 steals per game. He had a field goal percentage of .459, three point percentage of .363, and a free throw percentage of .794.

While with the Spurs in 2021-22, Murray averaged 21.1 points per game, 9.2 assists per game, 8.3 rebounds per game, and a NBA high two steals per game. He had a field goal percentage of .462, three-point percentage of .327, and a free throw percentage of .794. Murray was also the runner-up for the NBA Most Improved Player Award. He was only behind Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Nance Jr. is joining his fifth NBA franchise. In addition to the Pelicans, he has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Portland Trail Blazers. Daniels played the last two seasons with the Pelicans. He averaged 5.8 points per game last season in New Orleans.
