Harris English wins 2025 Farmers Insurance Open

For the fifth time in his golfing career, Harris English of Valdosta, Georgia, has won a PGA tournament. In a rare Saturday finish (concluded one day earlier due to the AFC and NFC Championship in the National Football League playoffs on Sunday), English posted a four round score of -8 to win the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California.

English had a first round score of four-under-par 68, a second round score of one-over-par 73, a third round score of six-under-par 66, and a fourth round score of one-over-par 73. The fact that English won a PGA event with two rounds over par is very irregular indeed. The last time a golfer won a PGA tournament with two rounds over par was the 2020 BMW Championship, as Spain’s Jon Rahm had an opening score of five over par and a second round score of one over par, but came back to shoot a four round score of -4 and beat Dustin Johnson in a playoff.

English defeated American Sam Stevens of Fort Worth, Texas by a stroke. Stevens was alone in second place at -7. Meanwhile, Andrew Novak of Raleigh, North Carolina was alone in third place, two strokes back at -6. There was then a two-way tie for fourth place. Those at -5 were South Korea’s Sungjae Im and Norway’s Kristoffer Ventura.

Harris’s first PGA Tour win came at the 2013 FedEx St. Jude Classic. He then won the 2013 OHL Classic at Mayakoba in Mexico, the 2021 Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui and then the 2021 Travelers Championship.
