Hannah Green of Perth, Australia has moved into Olympic medal contention in women’s golf at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. On Friday in the third round, Green shot an impressive round of four-under-par 67 to move from eighth place to third place.

Green is one of four golfers who are currently in the bronze medal position at -10. She is tied with Japan’s Mone Inami, New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, and Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen. No Australian has ever won an Olympic medal in golf. The sport has been at three Olympic Games in the past (1900 Olympic Games in Paris, the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro), and medals have been awarded to nine different countries.

Among those at -10 are two major champions. Green won the 2019 Women’s PGA Championship, while Ko won the 2015 Evian Championship in France, and the 2016 ANA Inspiration.
