Grizzlies center Steven Adams to miss the season with knee surgery

According to Stephen Pianovich of CBS Sports on Sunday, Memphis Grizzlies center Steven Adams of Rotorua, New Zealand, will miss the entire 2023-24 National Basketball Association season because of a knee injury. Adams suffered the injury on January 22, in a 112-110 Grizzlies loss to the Phoenix Suns. He would miss the remaining 36 games for the Grizzlies in the 2022-23 NBA regular season, and the Grizzlies playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
In 42 games last season, Adams averaged 8.6 points per game, 11.5 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game, and 1.1 blocks per game. He had a field goal percentage of .597, and a very poor free throw percentage of .364. Adams only made 47 of 129 shots from the charity stripe.
The precise injury that Adams suffered was an injury to his posterior cruciate ligament. Non-operative rehabilitation did not cure the ailment, leaving an operation as the best way to cure the problem.
This will be a drastically different Grizzlies team to begin the 2023-24 season. All-Star point guard Ja Morant of Dalzell, South Carolina has been suspended the first 25 games of the season for inappropriate conduct off the basketball court. He was seen holding a gun in a Memphis vehicle. There seems to be any doubt it was Morant because the incident was live streamed on Instagram. The Grizzles also lost Dillon Brooks in free agency to the Houston Rockets. The star small forward from Mississauga, Ontario was a second team All-Defensive player, and had a huge contribution for Team Canada in winning the bronze medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup in the Philippines.
