Golfers Ines Laklalech and Fabrizio Zanotti to be flag bearers for 2024 Olympic Games

The Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris takes place on Friday. The ceremonies are unique because it will be the first time ever that they will not take place in an actual stadium–but on the Seine River. Earlier this week we reported that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and 2023 United States Open women’s tennis champion Coco Gauff will be the flag bearers for the United States. Now it is time to feature the two golfers who will be the flag bearers in the Opening Ceremomies.
There will be one male golfer and one female golfer who will be part of the Parade of Nations. Paraguay will be represented by Fabrizio Zanotti, the 342nd ranked player in the Official World Golf Rankings on the men’s side, and Morocco will represented by Ines Laklalech, the 298th ranked player in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
Zanotti is ranked 58th out of the 60 entrants on the men’s side, while Laklalech is also ranked 58th out of the 60 entrants on the women’s side. There was a maximum of four players per gender per country. The United States is the most represented nation in the men’s Olympic golf tournament with four representatives, while the United States and South Korea lead the way on the women’s side with three players each.
Zanotti has won twice on the European tour. He was victorious at the 2014 BMW Intenational Open in Munich, where he beat Rafa Cabrera-Bello of Spain, 2016 British Open champion Henrik Stenson of Sweden, and Gregory Havret of France in a playoff after scoring a four round score of -19. Zanotti then won the 2017 Maybank Championship in Malaysia.
Laklalech has won once on the Ladies European Tour. She won the 2022 Lacoste Ladies Open de France, after posting a four round score of -14 to beat England’s Meghan MacLaren in a playoff.
