Golf: Three golfers who could win the BMW Championship
6 months ago - Sportingbase
The second weekend of the FedEx Cup Playoffs are set to start in Baltimore, Maryland on Thursday. After Justin Rose won a week ago in Memphis, here are the three golfers we like the most this week.
Scottie Scheffler
Sorry for sounding like a broken record, but literally every time the world number one picks up a golf club these days he is favoured to win. Nothing is different this week as Scottie Scheffler is at +225. To put Scheffler’s dominance into perspective, he has 20.0309 points. This is almost twice as many as Rory McIlroy, who is second with 11.3105 points. The one statistic that best defines his dominance is the fact he has been in the top eight in the last dozen golf tournaments he has participated in. That is consistency, and we have not seen this level of consistency since the days of Tiger Woods.

Tommy Fleetwood
It is getting to the stage of mind-boggling that Tommy Fleetwood (+2000) has not won a golf tournament yet on the PGA Tour. The world number 13 finished tied for third last week in Memphis, and had the lead after 54 holes on Saturday, only to see him be beaten by Rose. Speaking of top eight finishes in 2025, Fleetwood has six of them, but no victories.
Patrick Cantlay
The reason why we like the world number 22 (+2500) so much this week is because he won the BMW Championship the last time the event took place in Maryland in 2021. It was a dramatic victory for Cantlay as he beat Bryson DeChambeau in a six-hole playoff. Cantlay went on to win the 2021 FedEx Cup Playoffs.
