Golf: Three golfers that can win the 2025 United States Open

The third major in men’s golf is set to start Thursday at Oakmont. The world’s best are coming to this challenging golf course near Pittsburgh for the 13th time for a major championship. Here are the three golfers we like the most.
Scottie Scheffler
It should be zero surprise that the world number one is the overwhelming favourite. The native of Ridgewood, New Jersey has won three major titles in the past. They came at the 2022 and 2024 Masters, and 2025 PGA Championship. Scheffler’s betting line is +280, and there is a significant gap between him and the world number two, Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, at the moment. That is because McIlroy simply had nothing going this past weekend at the Canadian Open as he missed the cut with a score of +9.

Bryson DeChambeau
You should obviously be cautious whenever choosing a golfer on the LIV Tour. They just don’t normally get as much action in as PGA Tour golfers do. However, Bryson DeChambeau of Modesto, California (+700) has been extremely good at the last two majors. He was fifth at the Masters this year and second behind Scheffler at the PGA Championship. DeChambeau has two prior victories at major championships. They came at the 2020 and 2024 United States Open.
Jon Rahm
You should also be safe if deciding on LIV member and two-time major champion Jon Rahm of Barrika, Spain. Rahm (+1200) previously won the United States Open in 2021 and the Masters in 2023. Don’t be worried about the fact Rahm is ranked 77th in the world. That is because his LIV results are not recognized by the Official World Golf Rankings. Rahm was eighth at the PGA Championship.
