Giannis Antetokounmpo notches his fastest triple double of his NBA career

The Milwaukee Bucks have a superstar in Giannis Antetokounmpo. He is one of the best players in the NBA. Simple. Now the star forward who many refer to as “the Greek Freak,” is accomplishing a triple double with a lot of time left on the clock.

On Thursday, Antetokounmpo had 24 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists in a 137-129 Milwaukee win over the Portland Trail Blazers at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He recorded his triple double by the midway point of the third quarter, and it was the earliest Antetokounmpo has ever recorded a triple double in his NBA career.

It was Antetokounmpo’s second triple double in 2019-20. He also had 30 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in the Bucks’ 117-111 win over the Houston Rockets in the Bucks’ opening game of the season on October 24.

The Bucks offense is definitely clicking when Antetokounmpo registers a triple double. That is because due to the fact Antetokounmpo is distributing the basketball at a high level, other Bucks players are getting open looks and an opportunity to be a major part of the Milwaukee offensive attack. In the Bucks’ eight point win over Portland for example, point guard Eric Bledsoe led Milwaukee in scoring with 30 points, and four other Bucks players reached double digits in scoring. They were shooting guard Pat Connaughton (18 points off the bench), Donte DiVincenzo (16 points), Wesley Matthews (12 points) and Brook Lopez (10 points).

The Bucks are now where they were last year in the regular season–that is first in the Eastern Conference. At 12 wins and three losses, they are half a game up on the Boston Celtics.
