The San Francisco Giants have signed outfielder Harrison Bader of Bronxville, New York to a new contract. The terms of the deal are for two years and worth $20.5 million on Monday according to the Associated Press.
Bader has been described as a “journeyman” outfielder by Rogers Sportsnet and I understand why. That is because the Giants are his seventh Major League Baseball franchise. He was previously with the St. Louis Cardinals for six years from 2017 to 2022, the New York Yankees in 2022 and 2023, the Cincinnati Reds in 2023, the New York Mets in 2024, and the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies in 2025.
This past season with the Twins and Phillies, Bader batted .277 with 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in. During 146 games, 448 at bats and 501 plate appearances, he scored 61 runs and had 124 hits, 24 doubles, one triple, 11 stolen bases, 39 walks, 201 total bases, three sacrifice flies, an on base percentage of .347, and a slugging percentage of .449.

Bader’s triple came on August 28 in a 19-4 Phillies rout over the Atlanta Braves. It was a memorable game for Bader as he had four hits. In addition to the triple, he had one double and two singles.
Bader had a multi-home run game this past season. It came in a 4-3 Twins win over the Tampa Bay Rays on July 4 (Independence Day in the United States). It was also a hot start to the season for Bader in terms of power. In the Twins’s first five games, Bader hit three home runs.
Throughout Bader’s career, he has been noted for his defense. While with the Cardinals in 2021, he won the National League Gold Glove Award.
